Multifamily Operations and Management
Managed an apartment and condominium portfolio of 8,000+ units located throughout Texas. Built several thousand apartment and condominium units throughout Texas. Developed and implemented construction and operating budgets, annual maintenance schedules, management procedure manuals, community policies, and personnel policies.
Legislative and Regulatory Analysis
As Executive Vice President of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas, was responsible for providing legislative and regulatory oversight for more than 1000 owner/management companies and 600 product/service companies representing 470,000 rental units in the North Texas area. Continually monitored local, state and national legislative and regulatory actions, as well as legal and court rulings that affected the multifamily industry. Provided in-depth analysis of potential monetary, operational and legal impact of these actions.
Human Resources Management
Under his direction, the Dallas Apartment Association researched and published three of the most significant publications dealing with critical human resource subjects affecting the multifamily industry. The Fair Housing Compliance Guide: The Bluebook – A Crime Prevention Guide; and Human Resource Management for Apartment Communities. These publications were recognized and utilized on a national basis.
Have a long and extensive background working with local, state and national levels of government. Served in key leadership roles in local government, including Assistant City Manager, Assistant Housing Director and Director of Conventions Services for the City of Dallas. Provided volunteer leadership as Vice-Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Department and President of the Multifamily Acquisition Corporation for the City of Dallas. Testified numerous times before various local governments, Texas State Legislature and several Federal Agencies on issues affecting the multifamily industry.
